Your Help Needed! Drinks and Tapas Tonight....

Recommended Posts

Banded on July 22nd and going out with my friends tonight for not just dinner but a "girls night out" to Celebrate a birthday which for them is heavy drinking and dancing. I am nervous. Nervous that I'll try to keep up and drink to much or really what I'm afraid of is getting sick from too much drinking. I'm easing into foods and have been good and limiting myself to just one glass of wine, one time a week during dinner but tonight I'm nervous. Any practical advice? Thanks.

Replace the drinks with Water. Switch it up some like one drink of alcohol and then 2 waters.

I live in Korea and people tend to go nuts here too a night out can be a finally roll outta the bar at 7 am ( they close when you leave).

At first it was hard getting back into hanging with my crazy drinking friends, but after a while they got used to my drinking and I got used to switching it up some.

If your friends are pushy with getting you to drink then start just leaving your glasses at the bar without finishing them. At dinner have some wine but don't finish it. Once they are drunk they probably won't notice the changes.

Drink lots of Water before you go out and switch it up with cocktail then water. You will be pretty full of water, you probably won't want to drink. My first girl's night out I asked the bartender for water with lime and my friends thought I was drinking gin and tonics. When they did shots I dumped, mine and out water in it to make them think I was doing them. However, I did go to wedding and had a couple of real cocktails and boy! Did it hit me!!! It didn't take much for me! So, be careful and stay hydrated!

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'm happy to report back that I received no pressure but was definitely conscious of my drink intake. I survived having to snack by leaving before it got too late and the munchies hit. Instead when I finally got home I had a yogurt. Party on and thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
