Today I started my pre-op diet--My band is scheduled for Sept 29th. I started this morning with a Protein Shake and it was Ok, I trying not to focus on the limitations but it is hard and I feel like it will only get harder, but I know the end results will be worth it. I can do find in the day time while I am at work it is when I am home in the evenings when my mind gets busy, I plan to try to keep myself busy and start a walking scheduled as soon as the weather gets a little cooler. Do anyone have any better sugestions take can help keep me stay focus especially at nights and weekends, has anyone ever got off track doing the pre-op period?

So have you gotten any good ideas for the liquid diet thing? I just finished my first week of it and I still feel hungry! I have found that vegetable broth tastes better than chicken broth- more flavor! It is hard to deal with at work when everyone is eating lunch so i just stay at my desk- I have been getting more work done!!

If you have a costco near you their Protein Powder isn't bad, someone suggested putting sugar-free Jello powder in it and that helps. there are a lot of Protein

drinks on the market. Sugar-free jello and pudding is OK. It's not fun, but with a little imagination you can make it tolerable. There are a lot of smoothie recipes

on this forum and a Google search for WLS liquids has a lot of ideas. This is a very helpful forum and I'm sure many will chime in with great ideas.

Good luck and be assured it'll be worth it.

I am one of the ones that do my Protein Shakes with some sugar free pudding powder. Love the vanilla shakes with vanilla pudding, yum. And I almost always make my shakes up as a frozen smoothie. My surgeon approved me doing them that way as long as I dont let them sit and drink them pretty much right after making. I mix up my shake, then pour it into my smoothie maker with a giant handful of crushed ice, the pudding powder and sometimes a splash of vanilla flavoring and process the heck out of the whole thing till it becomes smooth, icy goodness. I then half eat it with a big long soda spoon, half suck up with a big straw. Now I want one. :D :D

Thank You,what is the ratio of pudding to Protein mix. I purchase the started set of UNJURY--contains--chocolate,strawberry ,vanilla, chicken Soup and unflavored--the chocolate and strawberry are good, but still has that very mild protein after taste, but are still very smooth in texture, but you can only get this product on-line-Do you have any suggestion of any good protein shakes. Thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
