UGH, so mad at myself

Recommended Posts

the last couple of days I have been bad and I am so mad at myself for that, the band is still fairly new to me, been trying to figure it out, no fills yet except what little bit he put in during surgery, I am eating too much, eating too fast, and have been sipping on sodas, I wake up and tell myself you have to do better today but somehow through out the day I lose it, I have failed once again, I really hope I have not done any damage to the band, not sure what I am expecting from this post maybe alil reality check to whip me back into shape, thanks

Sounds like you are whipping yourself back into shape! Just remember that it took us all many years of poor eating and/or exercise habits to get to the point where we have turned to WLS and we can't undo those habits of a lifetime in a matter of days, weeks or even months. You know, the only habit I ever broke overnight was biting my fingernails at age 37. I just looked at my nails one evening and thought that it was such a disgusting habit and I didn't know why I was biting them and that was it, never again! The difficulty with weight loss is that we have to eat every day so we really do have to learn new behaviours.

Good luck with your journey and remember, it's not about how often you fall down, it's about how often you get back up again!

Just curious as to when you were banded? Mine was 7/27/11 so my first day of real food is tomorrow. I'll tell ya, no matter what anybody says you don't know what to expect after your surgery. This website has been helpful. I still am not sure when I'm hungry or when I'm full. I don't have anything in my band so I've just been trying to eat 3 small meals. Sometimes I still feel hungry after 30 minutes and eat a little more or sometimes I just ignore it. I haven't had any experiences that have made me think that I've overeaten but when I'm eating with friends I find myself eating at a regular pace instead of slowing down, not chewing each bite as much and drinking while eating. So I'm gonna have to work on that. This new deal really requires a lot of thought. I actually haven't even had a soda because I know that I will be hooked again so I'm not even gonna go there. Anyway, we'll get it all figured out and rock it out!

Thanks ya'll for replying, I was banded on 7/25/11 with plication and hiatal hernia repair, found out today that my surgeon put in 3.5cc @ surgery, come to find out I was too tight, the PA removed half of that b/c I was experiencing heaviness in my chest and felt like someone was choking me, feel much better now, this lil scare has made me realize that I need to do better on my bad habits, wishing ya'll the best on your journey as well

I can tell you what always leads me down a bad path- carbs. If I have carbs for Breakfast, it starts a cycle and by the end of the day I'm ready to binge. Generally my best eating days are a Protein Drink for breakfast, a low-carb turkey wrap and almonds for lunch, and just Protein and a veg for dinner, no bread or rice or anything. But if I don't start off my day well, I can never get back on track for the rest of the day.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
