What a relief!!!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded last August, and since then, whilst I've lost some weight, but most of it was due to a well-disciplined diet.

I could pretty-much eat what I wanted, as my frown sincerely points out here - :)

However...

Since my second fill, I can now see what the fuss is about. I little bit of meat, and a bit of veg, and I'm stuffed to the brim. I'm no longer cynical about my band.

Anyone who is still waiting to get a decent restriction - believe me, when you do, it will be worth the wait. Time for a smilie, here - :bananapowerslide:

That is great Pianoman! I have been doubting some things here lately and debating on whether or not to get a fill. The only reason I think I am losing now is because of a very strict diet and exercise.

Keep up the great work.

I am very happy for you and I hope I get there soon too. I'm going for my 5th fill on Tuesday, maybe it will be the one!

Andy thanks for this post. I havent had a fill yet and I've been banded since October. I'm VERY frustrated as you said with a frown... I can eat what ever I want...except I'm not disciplined double frown :bananapowerslide: :bananapartyhat:

I am going to see the doctor tomorrow and I pray he will give me a fill b/c I am getting really down about this entire thing.

I said in another thread that if he doesn't give me a fill I will whip out a 12" sub sandwich and wash it down with a slab of cake right in front of him :)

I needed this pep talk... thank you !!

 Yeahhh Andy ~ You got it!!!

Feels good to be on the other side of the fence. You are experiencing what EVERYONE banded wants to feel!

Now, since Im jealous that YOUVE got it and I dont, please pass youre extra portionsthis way.

The band is a permanent part of your body, unless you have surgery to have it removed.

The fills come & go as needed. Some surgeons fill "aggressively", others not so much, depends on your surgeon. The fill is just the saline that they add to the band to inflate it (and thus create restriction).

Some surgeons charge per fill, others have a yearly package deal.

Hope I answered your question somewhere in there! I do believe I got to rambling. :)

Oh, and grats Pianoman!! I'm glad to hear it works in the end! :clap2:

I agree. Having had 3 fills and no restriction I went to another fill doc in London Harley St and It has really kicked in now. For the 1st couple of weeks I thought I was too tight, But now I realise this is how it should be and I am starting to lose weight again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
