Here's how a fill goes for me:

Fills in my surgeon's office are done by a surgical PA. She calls me into an exam room, weighs me, then asks me questions about my hunger (portion size, satiety, etc.) and any food restrictions or intolerances (so far I have none). If she determines I need a fill, I lay back on the exam table while she sets up for the fill. She opens everything, then puts on sterile gloves and cleans the port area with some alcohol or betadine. The first fill for me was a little painful just because there was so much fat in front of the port so she had to really push to find it and missed the first time. I've had two or three fills since with no problems, it just feels like getting a vaccination. Then I sit up and drink some Water to make sure there are no problems with it going down. After that I get a bandaid and a "See you next month!"

I had mine today!

It really wasn't so bad. It's more the anticipation I think. The way it worked for me (and I assume this is pretty standard) is that she had me lay back with a pillow under my back and she found the port. She said this first one would take longer than in the future because she pulled out what was already in the band to measure it, then put it back plus what she added. (for me I already had 3.8 cc's and she added one more). She told me that next time she will only add so it won't take nearly as long. Other than the initial pinch (not bad at all) there was just pressure. It was completely fine :)

Other than that I'm just so excited. I haven't lost any weight since the my post op diet (haven't gained either fortunately) and I'm ready to get the ball rolling :) Good luck!!!!

Jenn-

Thank you for posting I appreciate your step by step. I am probably more nervous of not knowing than scared. It seems to be that way alot in this journey.

Good luck to your goals.

MLR-

Thank you for your post I very much appreciate you taking the time.

I wish you all the luck to reach all of your goals.

I seem to be a bit like you since the pre op diet I have not lost or gained and am hoping this will change for the better after tomorrow.

Thanks again

Teresa

I had my frst fill on Thursday and I was a NERVOUS WRECK! I had high blood pressure when I went in to the office that day and I don't ever remember having high blood pressure. '

The nurse took my basic vitals and what not and then the doctor came in. She performs all of the fills in her office, but I know a lot of places have nurses or assistants do them. She had me lay over a pillow and she quickly located the port. She deadened the area with a very small needle and some medicine and it was instantly numb. Next, she inserted the HUGE needle and I barely felt it. I had to ask her for sure if she was in yet. It was no time and she slapped a band aid on and gave me some Water to drink. It went down fine and I was free to go for a month!

Needless to say, it was a PIECE OF CAKE! I was terrified for no reason at all! You will be fine.

Oh thank God there is some one that is in my boat!!!! I lost 6kg on pre-op/post op diet, since then i havent lost anything! Also im just back off my holidays and im sure ive put on weight but im afraid to get on the scales. I got banded on the 25th June and I have to wait till 19th August for my first fill. Im so annoyed over this as my first fill was suppose to be 6 weeks post op!!!

I have no restriction, well maybe a little, i cant eat as much as i use to but can still eat a lot. Ive no liquid in my band now and im running out of patience!!!!

Its very hard waiting, but your post has made it a bit easier. Thanks

It was really stress over nothing. easy easy easy. I surrvived. Also I have learned from my surgeons office that once you have your first fill you only need to wait one week before getting another if you need it. because I didn't ask I just assumed that i had to wait a month like the first fill. Do Not assume just ask!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
