I really don't see the big deal with cancer joke. You guys are taking this too seriously and I know from personal experience the affects of cancer ( My grandpa lost his battle with cancer and my dad is still battling). I thought it wad funny and my dad and I exchange cancer jokes all the time. So don't be so serious, laughter is the best medicine.

I like the response that Cindy made about finally getting control of your life and also the one about making positive lifestyle changes. Most of my friends know that I am in the process and have been very supportive. All of my doctors have been very supportive. I have not told my sisters who live out of state as I know what their responses will be and it is not positive. I will wait till I see them again and see if they notice or ask questions. I am doing this for me and my health and my husband and children in that order. I want to be able to do things with my husband in retirement and I want to live to see and love my grandchildren. Enough said!

I thought the e-coli joke was funny... But I could see how the cancer joke offends people. I lost my dad to cancer and my aunt is battling it right now.... I didn't take offense to the joke but I understand how people could, I guess.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
