trying to decide if I should get an unfill!!

Recommended Posts

I went for a fill last week, which I think I really needed. But I dont know if I should get a little bit unfilled. I have lost 6.5 lbs since then, and I am having a little problem getting things down. I dont have problems with drinking at all and I can get stuff down if they are pretty mushy.

I have to decide by tomorrow so I can get it as a free visit. I just dont know, I kinda tninking that I might wait as I can get some stuff down, its not like im gonna starve!

I think you would feel better with a tiny tiny (0.1-0.25) ml un-fill. If it turns out to be the wrong decision you can get it back...from harsh experience I now believe that when in doubt, adjust a little and try it. By now more than liquids should be tolerated. The rapid wt loss is a great ego boost, but soon will wear you down...maybe.

Good luck and let us know.

Mimi

I had a fill, felt the same way then it got misreable not being able to eat normal food, so I got .2cc removed and its fantastic! I can eat what i need to chew really good and still have the restriction that i need!

How much did you get on your last fill? If it was .5cc's or larger, I think a tiny unfill (.1 or .2) would be a good idea. My doctor says sometimes fills can take up to 2 weeks to "kick in". I know I've had one suddenly get tighter at 10 days.

Im pretty sure she put 1 in. I dont think its to bad. I just nibbled on a turkey cheese rollup and it didnt go down to bad. I thought I was going to get stuck but went thru. I think I will give it another week and see how it goes

According to my card, if you are making poor food choices such as higher calorie liquids, regurgitating, having discomfort when eating solids, and night cough--you need an unfill. I believe i fyou are stuck on mushy foods, you need an unfill. But, I'm newly banded and haven't had ANY fills and actually have no experience :) So take that for what it's worth :P

Get a tiny unfill before you find you're too tight and have to pay to have it removed. Being too tight is horrendous.

update: had some hanburger and some peas for dinner. Cut them up really small and it went down fine. I think I just need to do extra small cuts right now. I am staying full forever. If it gets any worse I will go in! thanks guys :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
