Temps Effecting Lap Band?

Recommended Posts

I am so glad I found this thread! So back in June I for the first time ever was not able to get liquids down and had to go in for a adjustment and removed .25cc from my band. Since then I thought I would be hungry all the time etc... So not the case!!! I live in Arizona and our summers are hot. It's ranged from 105-117 the past month. If I am outside too long I cannot eat. I will take 2-4 bites and food gets stuck. I can drink all I want so it doesn't scare me at this point. I have lately noticed this because it's like time windows for me to eat. Mostly after 8pm when I have been inside for awhile. I am going to doctors on Thursday to pick there brains and make sure. I am almost positive that it has to do with internal temperature. When I am outside for more than 15-20 mins I know I won't be able to eat. Any thoughts on it?

I agree and I welcome it! I spent the weekend at the pool and could hardly eat a bite! I was so happy cause I lost a pound. I have been struggling to lose due to a band that is so loose. I only have 8cc in an extra large 14cc band. I purposely go out in the heat now just to not feel hungry!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
