Got "stuck" for the first time last night

Recommended Posts

Getting stuck is so unpleasant!! Also, regurgitation is just a nice way to say "blowing chunks". Okay ewww, but you know what I mean! Just needed a place to vent! lol :sigh:

Slime 1st till the small remnant of food that's stuck goes down or out. Very unpleasant to be sure. Small bites and chew chew and dare I say chew some more cuts down the risk. I'm sorry it happened to you though, i'm sure it wasn't fun.

And welcome to bandland! Ain't it a joy?

Ok, three years banded and hadn't heard the jellyfish analogy! laugh.gif

I was stuck once in our motorhome hanging over the kitchen sink. Had the slime string handing down with little bubbles running along it at about one inch intervals. DH usually just leaves me be while stuck, but with so little room in the motorhome he had no choice but to pass me by. He glances over an says, "oh look! A pearl necklace! How pretty!"

Snort! Spit! Laugh! Gag! Great! Now I have to clean up slime from all over the sink and backsplash, thanks Honey!

I find that it seems to happen when I'm socializing while I'm eating. I went out to dinner with a bunch of friends last night and was talking and laughing and some food got stuck. It's really unpleasant. I have to remember to take small bites, chew slowly, and focus on that instead of people haha. Fortunately I haven't thrown up... gross :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
