I heard Dr Balder resigned from Southeast Bariatrics yesterday to start up his own Lap Band Institute in Charlotte yesterday...Thank GOD, that office was the biggest disaster that one could ever imagine!!! Trying to get in for an initial consult was ridiculous, too many rules, too much hassel!! Dr Balder gave me his cell phone number after surgery which I have not abused, but offered comfort as I can get ahold of him if needed and not have to go through all that red tape to get in to that crazy dysfunctional office! I can't wait to see him at his new and improved office...I knew from the get go that the Southeast Bariatrics office did not fit his personality. They were all about money, and themselves... Dr Balder, you'll take over Charlotte soon! Maddy

I received a phone call today saying that I needed to call about my appointment. When I called the office back I was told that Balder "left to pursue other interests". I was completely floored! A friend of mine and myself have wondered about the massive turnover at the office and wondered what in the world was going on. We're going to see Dr. Vollinger in two weeks and kinda go from there on whether or not we'll stay/move to another practice. I hope they get everything figured out really soon. They have potential but they certainly have issues that need to be addressed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
