I have been banded on 17th march 2011. I have severe arthritis and have been told not to take medicines.

But many times pain is bad and I have taken medicines (NSAIDS) sometimes maybe 10days in a month.but not continuously.

I am quite scared of things like band erosion. does anyone have a story like mine?

Please guide me.ALL SAY THAT ONCE YOU LOOSE A LOT OF WEIGHT YOU WONT NEED MEDICINES. But my weight loss is also slow.

Yes, ask your doctor. But, as for me, I have severe arthritis from an old car accident where I had a hip fracture. The pain us tough. I asked my surgeon about my prescription mobic/meloxicam (because Tylenol would not touch the pain) and he told me I could take 1 every other day. I choose to deal with the pain most days, but I may have 1 pill 1 time a week. I know it would be a lot better if I took it consistently every other day, but I, too, am scared of erosion, so that's why I hold off on the meds.

Ask for naproscin suppository, my surgeon prescribed me that after my surgery and now because i have very bad Migraines.< /p>

It is an anti inflamatory med, so it can still be harsh on the stomach, but it wont cause erosion or holes in your stomach like taking one from the mouth.

That is what they explaoned to me:)

I would listen to your doc, but mine has no problem with me taking NSAIDs, he said the rule of not taking them is really only true for bypass patients

I used to take prescription Naproxen for my TOM but now take 3-4 Aleve to equal the prescription dose. It's the only thing that works for me and I usually have to take it 2-3 days during my cycle. I asked pre-surgery if I could continue taking them after surgery and she didn't see a problem with it, only if I took them on a daily basis. I think everyone's dr might have their own opinion. Just ask yours.

I took NSAIDS for the severe pain of Osteoarthritis of the Knees. (HAVE BOTH BEEN REPLACED.) That was the worst medicine that I was ever on. I didn't know what was causing me to retain Water so bad. A specialist said you take all these, and want more for pain? "Yeah" He said don't take them anymore, there not really helping you. Throw them out.

I couldn't believe it. But it was to be done. I hurt like hell, Took some Ibuprofen to help.

It took 3 days, and my Kidneys started to work again, I never Peed so much in my life. I lost 30 Lbs. in 30 days... I even slept on the toilette...

I was drowning in my own Fluid and no Dr. would believe me except for him. He saved my life !

I have it in my Back and Hands. I use a cream to help the pain. Or pain meds from the Doc. if really bad. Sometimes Ibuprofen, But I will never take those kins of pills again.

When they replaced my Knees, The surgeon told me that none of those NSAIDS are any good for you. I believe that.

LOOKS LIKE MY FINGERS ARE NEXT FOR REPLACEMENT. But I will take a pain pill first, creme, or ice.

I wish you luck. I know what you are going threw.

Good Health to you, Shirley.

As always, ask YOUR surgeon, but mine is OK if I take NSAIDs from time to time.

They have some really good cremes that are rated #1. That's what I used, up untill I had replacements.

The aid even rubbed my knees for me when I had my LapBand done. She asked if this stuff really worked? I said yes !

So she wanted to know if she could write the name down for her Girlfriend, who has it in her back. I said be my guest.

So I hope it worked for her,,

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
