Help - Is what Im feeling normal - nearly 2 wks post op???

Recommended Posts

I am scared that I have messed something up, but then again I might just be overreacting. I worked in the yard quite a bit last night and lifted one of those big Water hose caddies on wheels before I thought about it. I was fine today until about 3 PM and I noticed I was more sore than usual in my port area. It's okay when I'm still, but when I move it just feels like a pulled muscle. Also, my whole abdominal/stomach area is pretty swollen now. I am not sure if I pulled something last night or if I am just bloated because it's about to be my time of the month and also I haven't had a bowel movement in a couple days. I know this is TMI, but I'm worried since I'm so bloated looking. Anyone had this problem??

This is pretty normal. Since you are only 2 weeks out, you are definitely not fully healed on the inside. You probably overdid it last night and the swelling is from that. Take it easy for the next couple of days...no heavy lifting or hard work. You should improve a little bit each day.

Thanks Jen! I'm such an idiot and I know I shouldn't have lifted that, but I'm used to just doing stuff on my own! Hopefully, this horrible swelling will go down. I have never looked this bloated!

My port incision area is still sore (surgery date was 6/16). It was feeling better but then I worked 16 hrs Sunday and 8 hrs yesterday and last night it was pretty sore again, which I'm sure was from all my physical activity (I'm a nurse, so I'm up and down and walking a lot) even though I didn't lift anything. So yours is probably just irritated and hopefully will feel better by tomorrow. The bloating is probably a combo of your other two issues!

Edited to clarify that my port incision is not extremely sore, but it's still sore in comparison to the other incisions.

I had my surgery 6/16 too, so it sounds like what I'm doing is probably normal. I think I might just be too paranoid!

I had my surgery on 5/25 and my port incision is still the most tender. I haven't been able to adhere to the "no lifting above 15 lbs for 6 weeks" edict because I have a 3 y/o who sometimes NEEDS to be lifted (so he can go have a time out, more often than not). I'm noticing an internal kind of pain when I do some simple yoga stretches - like child's pose - like there is something in there (which I know there is...).

Anyway.

Go easy! No more lifting hose caddies! And if the pain continues, call your doctor!

I was told 25 lbs was fine after a week and I was moving 50 lbs items by two weeks. It all depends how you heal.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
