Concerned about Calories Intake..........

Recommended Posts

It's been awhile since I posted - although I check the posts all the time. Everyone is so helpful and I have learned a ton of do's and don'ts  Well I am 3 weeks post op and have lost 25lbs :bananajump: :lost2.5lbs: I am amazed at how easy this whole process has been so far - I hope it continues. I am really watching my Portion Control - take 25 minutes to eat and CHEW CHEW CHEW - I am trying to stay away from slider type food and focus on Protein. I am a little concerned I am only eating between 500 and 600 calories a day  is this enough? I feel satisfied and stick to the 1/2 cup of food only - sometimes I leave food on the plate because I am satisfied or my 25 minutes is up.... I also excercise every day (every other day add strength excercises to cardio)

I am loving my BAND  But have concerns that I am not eating enough .. I do take Multivitamin and Calcium with D daily .....Any helpful information or advice would be appreciated :thankyou:

yep ! Don't join the Starvation Nation.! O.K. Are you drinking Protein shakes? They will help with energy, and beef up your calorie intake.

I do between 800-1200 a day, and that's plenty.

Go to myfitnesspal.com It's free, and it records all your needed information day after day. It also keeps your foods in memory, so let say your looking up lunch, you see your food, check off the box, and enter it. It's done. Same thing with exercise.

Give it a shot for about a week. It will journal everything for you.

I am losingintime on that site.

Your success is totally fantastic! Congrats!

During the first month, I also was low calories....400-500 day! Despite my PA saying it's OK to stay there if I am feeling OK, I was starting to feel light headed and low energy. And I stayed the same weight for 3 days! Then I read on line the negative effects of staying on this low count for a long period of time.

So a few days ago I uped my calorie intake to 700. The next day, I lost 2 1/2 lbs! It was probably coincidence, but I took it as a sign I was doing the right thing, cause I also felt better. My PA said that the guidelines say that in month two, 800-1000 calories/day was a good goal. I can't imagine at this point doing 1000/calories a day and still lose weight! Plus, I don't think I could now eat that much! I am going for 700-800, but I've only been at it 3days and I am staying at around 700. Because I now get to add in fruits and veggies, I can probably add 100 calories pretty yummily!

Hope that helps. Continued good luck! Glad it is going easy for you! Me, too! Greatest decision of my life!

Yay for your weight loss success! I think you're not taking in enough calories.

Initially after surgery, you're good with 600-700 calories a day because you're just consuming liquids and mushies.

But it's hard to keep that calorie range once solid foods kick in. I use myfitnesspal app on my Android phone

and it has helped me track what I eat. Protein is super important!!

That's also fantastic that you are exercising. Looks like you're doing well with everything..keep it up !!! :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
