I had a completely emotional "moment" today and my "instinct" of reaching for comfort food IMMEDIATELY kicked in.

Here's the thing. Usually I would not have realized what I was doing until it was too late. Since I am (1) only recently banded, (2) still very sore, (3) can't drink more than 3-4oz of any Fluid, I realized RIGHT AWAY that I was in the process of "stuffing" myself. More importantly, I realized that I was doing this BECAUSE I was emotional and was able to quickly pinpoint what had been my "trigger point."

Wow. Never happened before.

I've got a LOT of learning to do. But.... just another reason that this lap-band is so important to me. It's helping me in ways I hadn't expected. (Yes, I stopped stuffing myself and just DEALT with what was going on.)

It's good that you are aware of what was happening. For me, the first year was all a learning experience when it comes to situations like the one you posted about. I find it helpful to find something else to turn to instead of food like cleaning house or sewing.

I totally feel your pain!!! I've walked around my kitchen looking for something that I'm not physically ready to have but wanted so badly!! I have to stop myself, for I know that once I start I probably wouldn't be able to stop!! But then I have to remind myself I didn't pay all that money and go through all this pain just to throw it away.....if I am patient I will be be able to eat small portions of what I want soon enough. :)

I'm glad that you learned something but also that you shared it with us so we can learn from it to.

Hang in there!:P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
