I cheated a little...feel so bad.

So I was banded on the 20th and am on full liquids, which for my doctor is Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes, not even Jello or Soup. Well I was sooooo hungry I had some soup. I know I shouldn't have, but it is a liquid and the same consistency as my shakes. I just feel so guilty now...

My doctor only had me do clear liquids for one day, and then I could have full liquids after that. I'm on mushies now. I would say that Tomato Soup is probably not going to hurt you; so don't feel bad. Feeling bad is the worst thing you can do; just try to get back on the horse and follow doctor's orders after that. You're a strong person for having clear liquids for that long! WOW! I would have died I think.

As for what is broth and what is not; no, Tomato Soup isn't broth. Vegetable, chicken, beef broth, or mushroom broth, those are broths; they're were it's just the Water and the flavoring basically.

Don't feel bad! I was banded on the 20th also and have been on clear liquids since June 6th. I am trying to stop myself from licking everything in sight! It's good that you feel hungry! I was scared I would never feel hungry again... although that might have been a blessing.

Hey Rozie!

Any ideas for mushies? Just started on them yesterday! THANKS :)

Everyone heals differently. Every doctor has different rules and really the rules for most doctors are just guidelines. If I were you, I would call your doctor and tell him how you are feeling. I went to my doctor a week after surgery and he told me I could eat anything I could tolerate...and that was not what the "rules" said.

Don't beat yourself up...we all are going to cheat, but we all are going to get right back on track!

I think you should feel good in the fact that you cheated with something like "soup".....just think, before you were banded and was on a diet, you'd cheat with something like Mcdonalds or a pizza, etc. Now you feel guilty for Soup. I think you're on the right track!

Don't worry...you are fine! If cheating is "soup" then you have a great mindset!

If you feel like you're cheating with just Tomato Soup - you shouldn't because as the others have said what a great choice for cheating! Take it easy on yourself as this is a huge learning process and you will have many hurdles to pass in the future.

Take care!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
