Hello again,

So I'm still awaiting approval for my surgery l when I saw Dr Awad April 29 he told me that I would need to lose 8 Lbs before July (that is when I'm hoping to have my surgery) my BMI was at 37 I lost 12 lbs since then I'm now at bmi 34.3 I I'm really worried that I will not get approved since my bmi is at 34 I talked to the nurse and she says they submit to tricare the bmi of when the dr first saw me. I'm in a routine with my workout like for the past 10 yrs off and on when I go on a diet I lose only 20lbs and I'm stuck at a plateau not matter how hard I try I can't lose anymore weight than and as you all know you give up and you gain the weight back. So now comes my question should I just stop trying to lose more weight Im really worried that if I do lose more weight my Dr will say well your losing the weight on your own you don't need the surgery need all the input I could get with this please help

Sherry

The insurance company does not decline just because you have lost weight during the process. They base it off of what you weight when you first had your doctors appointment. I wouldn't stop losing weight because you think your aren't going to be approved.

Lots of people lose a good amount of weight before the surgery.

Just because you have lost it during that journey doesn't mean it's going to stay off. If it did when you tried in the past, you wouldn't have gone to the doctor in the first place.

Try not to worry and good luck on getting your approval.;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
