SO HARD to get an appt in NYC

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm new here, Ive been reading these forums for years but never posted since you guys answered all my questions!!! Anyways, I moved from Southern California and due to the climate and altitude changes in NY, my band has been very tight. I basically cannot eat anything without sliming and eat a bite of food right before bed. I've been calling places all morning:

Dr. Ren: needs my operative notes and will call me if they accept me

Dr Shah: needs my operative notes and no appts until August

Dr. Pomp/Dr. Jacob: needs operative notes and each fill is $250

Dr. Gorecki: has never had a self-pay patient and cannot give me a price, isnt available till August

Montfiore: only one doctor (Dr. Camacho) accepts outside patients and fills cost $500

Dr. Garber: too far for me, but $350 for initial visit and $250 for fills

Doctors who said NO: (you'd think I committed a crime by getting my band somewhere else!!)

Dr. Jonathan Wong

Dr. Charles Choy

Dr. Ferzli

Dr. Edward Chin

North Shore Surgery Specialists

Looks like my best bet is Dr. Shah, yet OBand wont release my notes without a signed release from the doctor! Well, I cant get an appt for the doctor without these notes so what am I supposed to do!! Does anyone have any other recommendations? Please help! Thanks-Nancy

Hi, How about trying Dr, Alan Geiss Head of North Shore LIJ. 516-496-2752. If you can call him or go to one of his meeting to talk to him in person. He is a very kind man and very nice people working in his office.

Good luck to you.

Mary

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
