Frustrated!

Recommended Posts

SO I'm about 9 months out and have only lost about 25 pounds. I feel like the weight I have lost is 100% my doing. I haven't felt my band work at all. I've had 3 fills but I am scared to get another one because I get stuck often. However, not enough to need an unfill. I am just finding all of this money and time I spent preparing is a waste and it is very dissapointing. I'm not sure what to do.

If you are getting stuck often and not losing weight then you probably need a slight unfill. Does your doctor ask what zone your in when you go to him? Sounds to me like you're in the red zone.

I mostly get stuck with the same minds of foods-when I have bread and meat together. I can't afford to go to the doctors right now because y insurance changed their policies so now I only get two visits a year covered by insurance. Otherwise it's $100 a visit. Also, I just don't feel like my band is doing anything for me. :/

You need to find an alternative to bread. Bread is often a problem for bandsters (getting stuck) and can make us hungrier sooner and is not conducive to weight loss.

I seldom eat bread now, and if I do it's something like Ezekiel bread or a Whole wheat/whole grain bread and only 1/2 to 1 slice and it's toasted.

If you're eating other "white carbs" such as potatoes, rice, Pasta.. those will also slow your weight loss. Do some research about the Glycemic Index. www.glycemicindex.com is one place to start.

I agree. Stay away from bread and all things white! I very seldom eat any red meat. It always seems to give me trouble.

What do you eat in a typical day?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
