I just paid $10,350 plus airfare to Mexico. Also spent a little on souvenirs too! But sure saved a lot on food!

Hi,

In California near San Francisco, I just paid over $20,000. Decided I had paid that much over the years to try to lose weight with every method known to man, so I sold some stock and did it. No regrets. I would think that it would be cheaper where you are.

Also, if your primary care MD is supportive of this, all my preop testing was taken care of by insurance (pulmonary function test, echocardiogram, blood work galore, abdominal ultrasound, nutritional consultation, psych evaluation, EKG, etc.)

Good luck, but what's a new car compared to a new body that feels wonderful. Mine was done 12/29/03 so it hasn't even been a month.

Also, it was not just one payment. There was 4 altogether (anesthesia, hospital, doctor, assistant). I also was told you could work out a payment plan with the hospital.

Let me know if you have questions.

Carol

Hi

I had my surgery done at Huntington Beach Hospital.. They have a Bariatric Unit there.. I had great care.. They will work with you if you don't have a doctor to do the pre-op tests.. This a called the NEW PROGRAM @ Huntington Beach.

The cost was $15,200.00 and it covered everything, the night stay in the hospital, doctor, anestigiolist(sp).. The staff is wonderful, you can call them anytime and they can answer your questions for you.. The price also includes ALL your fills.. you can check there website at www.thenewprogramhbh.com

I was very happy and I was just banded there on 12-20-03.. Good luck..

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
