First Timer! Consultation w/Surgeon on Tuesday!

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone! I've been reading this forum for a while now, the information and support that you guys offer is great! I have my first consultation tomorrow with my surgeon, so I hope everything goes well. As you can see from my ticker, I've got a whole lotta me to lose, but hey, I figure that if I can be happy at 315, then less will bill awesome!!! I'll try to keep everyone posted on my progress through the process! I'm sure, I'll have to battle the Insurance Company, but I'm up for the fight!

Thanks Paua and Coyotegirl for your welcome! I found out late yesterday afternoon that my PCP didn't get my referral # from my Insurance Company, so I had to re-schedule my consultation for next week. I'm sure this will be a lenghty process, another week wont kill me! I'll keep you posted!:faint: :faint:

awee, Sorry to hear of the slight set-back... your attitude is great though. You are right, its just one more week.

Thinking back to those days, I had to make lots of phone calls... to my insurance comp AND surgeons office. Just to make sure everyone was doing what they said they were doing.

You know the saying, "The sqeaky wheel gets oiled first"?

Well, I was squeakin' :)

good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
