Hello Everybody, new bandsters and old =) here is my diet, exercise, and daily stuff

I just wanted to share my success and ups and downs so far.

i was banded on 3/32/2011. at surgery i had 5 cc's in. i have had fills and now am at 6cc's.

i think that may just be the right spot, not hungry at all =)

my food has been :

730am coffee with equal and cream ( i never skimp on the cream)

my chewable muli vitiman

830am Water with flavored benefiber

1030am Water

1230 Breakfast , 100 cal muscle milk light, I have tried the eas advanage ones, but for some strange reason they make me hungry, so now i only have the mm light

230 coffee with 1/2 and 1/2

330 water with benefiber

430 lunch mm light

630 water with benefiber

830 dinner, 1/2 head of romaine lettuce, i small Tomato, red onion, feta or gorganzola cheese, garlic expressions dressing

1/2 cup chicken salad ( light mayo, canned chicken, red onion) or fish, chicken brest, OR veggies are my fav , stema fresh garlic califlower smashed up with a laughing cow french onion square mmmm

I also have sf popcicles at night and sometimes snack on almonds.

i found i could eat a lot more till my last fill ( thursday) and now it def seems like im really full after less food so i guess that is right =)

my exercise is walking my dog every am, up and down some big hills, and i sell cars so im pretty active through out the day.

I can feelmy port now, weird. and so far it had been great, i wish i did it when i wa in my 20's instead of my 30's.

i started at 267 and now at at 230, my goal is 150.

I have not been stuck, in pain, thrown up, had a slimy or anything bad, just my first fill i had a Vasovagal attack , which was scarry, but 2nd fill was fine.

I have been up and down my whole life, highest weigh was 300 and lowest was 180 so im veryy happy I had my lapband put in. i regret not doin it sooner !!

i did have a ice cream sunday at outback one night, but for the most part i do not eat many carbs and eat one meal a day. i still do have bad cravings when i am pmsing, and will eat a small piece of dove chocolate , or 2 lol

and today i had a 1/2 of a 1/2 of subway 6inch turkey flatbread with avacado, just to test out my new fill, and it worked, full and not wanting any more

if anybody has any questions feel free to email me.

i love this talk page, its geat for all of us

I'm so happy for you! It was exciting to hear your progress, and to see that you can still eat some reg food just a tiny amount without spitting up or any of that stuff! I hope I can get where you are soon! I was banded on May 25th so I'm still on the full liquid until the last week of June!

Hi Mandy-

Congratulations on your surgery =) I do remember that, my surgeon had me on 1 full week of clear, 3 full weeks of shakes, and then mushies wich were no carb, Also after a fill its like just being banded for a few days after again. I love sugar free popcicles, they really get me through the tough times if i have them.

You will do great !! there are so many different diets and ways of eating, your surgeon will have you do what works for you.

Keep up the good work, and stay strong, liquids are def a tough time, but in no time at all you will be chew chew chewing again !! I

Thanks for sharing all of that. I was a little curious about the vasovagal attack. Did you ever have those prior? I was diagnosed with cardio neurogenic syncope when I was younger because I would have these episodes several times a month. I had to alert all my teachers and friends about it because it would suddenly happen. Usually I could tell people, I'm not feeling well...and by that point I was just about on the ground. So did you ever have problems prior or did they say how you can avoid that in the future??

I have not been stuck, in pain, thrown up, had a slimy or anything bad, just my first fill i had a Vasovagal attack , which was scarry, but 2nd fill was fine.

No never before , it was very strange, i think it may have been a combo of things, my first fill, nerves, and of course the fill itself, my nurse on thursday told me that when the lap band is placed, they try to get it right around our vegas nerve which has to do with hunger, The fill must have just stimulated my nerve and hence my attack, I did not pass out but sure felt like I was going to. My best freind is a nurse, after i told her what happend she right away said it was a vasovagal attack, she said it could it may never happen again or it could, no way to know. =)

to avoid it i was told that raising my blood pressure, and laying down so my blood is not rushing from my head. also to clench fist really fast, to bring my blood pressure up. hope this helps =)

I knew they put it around a nerve, I read about the vasovagal attack and it sounded similar to my syncope episodes. Mine is something to do with my blood pressure being too low and my body then tells my heart that my bp is too high and it makes it drop low and that causes the fainting. It's a horrible feeling! But right after I pass out, I usually wake up right away and I feel fine within about 5 minutes. But yes, laying down will help the blood to pump better and having your legs bent as well. I was hoping having the band wasn't going to start causing more episodes! Those are scary!

I was banded on 4/26/11 and I'm in bandster hell right now!! I am always hungry, my stomach is always growling, and I could easily eat just as much as I could eat before I was banded. At my last checkup I told my doctor that I was way too hungry and told him that I wanted a fill. After he lectured me about having to do the work myself and not relying on the band to do all the work for me, he agreed that a fill was in order. Did you tell your doctor that you are always hungry? I was wondering if it's ok for us, as patients, to "demand" a fill even if the doctor doesn't agree we need it...I mean we know our own bodies, right? Has anyone ever had to battle their doctor to get a fill?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
