They didn't put fluid in my band

Recommended Posts

I had an appointment on May 12th. I had lost 12lbs in 6weeks, so the dr. decided that I had hit my sweet spot. No Fluid added in my band! Now after kicking my body into high drive with more exercise, I have found myself more hungry! And wouldn't you know I feel like I can eat more!. I have not lost more than 1 to 2lbs since my visit and I find myself obsessing over weight loss. I started out as 277 on surgery date and have gotten down to about 227. I had my surgery on Oct. 29, 2010. I am so scared that I have reached a plateau or could have stretched my pouch. How do you know if your pouch is stretched? Could I be hungry because of the lack of fill? Why am I getting indigestion? Is there anyone out there who is having to adjust mentally and physically like me? Can someone please help me?

You could need another fill because you've lost weight and lost fat under your band.

If you are hungry in less than 4-5 hours after a meal, can eat more than 1.5 c of solid food, and are gaining weight then you need a fill.

However, if your eating has only recently changed then it's a mental change. Keep a food diary for a week. See what you're eating, the quantities, and when you're eating it.

Also - if you keep a food diary and exercise diary for two weeks, and take your weight every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday you'll have evidence to go to your Dr. with to say that you need a fill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
