My surgery is scheduled for June 30 and I am in full on panic mode!! I have known for months this is the best solution for me and my weight battles even though I have only been actively pursuing the band for about a month. Most days I am confident in my decision but there are moments when I just want to call the doctor and cancel!!

Mostly I know this is the right thing for me but I have days (like today) where I am scared to death. I have been a yo-yo dieter most of my adult life and I know this is much safer then continuing in this cycle.

I haven't told many people about my choice because I have a BMI of 31 and most of those that I have told are not very supportive of my choice because I am not "big" enough.

Good for both of you. You have to do what's right for yourselves. By the time my BMI was where yours is now, I had lost 100 pounds. I wish I had had it done sooner. I never would have ballooned to over 300 lbs if I had. Good luck to you both.

I myself have days like that but i have to remind myself why I cant lost weight on my own. I also some days think about all the foods ill miss. But you know what .. i miss my ass more!! I miss being healthy. If I continue on with the weight iam , the bad eating habbits i have , im going to miss out on my sons life and all the people who love me . I dont want to miss anymore of this one life we get anymore. I want to do things like other people . I want to put on a pair or shorts & jeans without any effort . i want to go shopping without getting depressed. i want to FIT on a ride at a amusement park . I want my legs to not rub together when i walk. I want to not worry about if im going to FIT in a both at a restaurant or not.

Those are just a few of the things I keep in mind when im having days like you are having.

good luck and i hope you do the best thing that is right for YOU ! =)

I am 8 days from my banding, and let me tell you I am freaking out and second guessing myself everyday. By the end of the day, I realize I am doing the right thing, and then wake up again with questions. It happens, its a life long commitment, and lifestyle change. My starting BMI was 41.9, and without trying and no preop diet so far I have dropped down to 40.2. I have to try and maintain my weight until surgery because my insurance can deny payment for a BMI under 40. So I am FREAKING OUT and again, it makes me second guess my decision. I have managed to drop 10 lbs or so in 2 weeks without even trying, why do I need this band. I need this because in 2 weeks that 10 lbs will show its ugly face again. Be strong, and believe in yourself its the best advice I can offer.

I have united healthcare.......I also was freaking out about dropping a few lbs...it was recommended to call the nurse at the band dr and ask about that........she told me they go from the first weight at the consult........and losing a bit of weight before banding shows the insurance company you are a good candidate for the band......it would be kind of stupid to have 6 months of classes with a dietitian and not lose a pound. Best of luck laura

So glad to hear I am not alone. I have never felt so bi-polar in my life!! I got a call from my primary doctor Friday to let me know they had faxed all of my records and the letter of consent to the surgeon's office. The nurse said that my doctor apologized for it taking so long but instead of the standard canned letter they normally send out, she wanted to write one herself for my case. Turns out she thinks this is the best decision for me and is pretty excited that I have chosen to do this. My surgeon said the same thing but of course since he has a financial stake in it I didn't really take it that serious <_<

For now that has calmed my nerves and made me feel much better about my choices.

You are doing the right thing! I spent several years with a BMI like yours, and wish I would've done something then! Instead I waited, and by the time I done it I had a BMI of 50! Go for it! I was banded on May 25th. Started my pre-op on May 11. I've already lost 18 pounds! It has been difficult at times, but I couldn't have done it without the help of my band!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
