GM Lap Banders... I was just banded on 5/18/11 and everything went wonderful... But since around the 3rd day being home I felt back to normal and since have been experiencing REAL HUNGER PAINS!! Also I have been feeling on my stomach and can not seem to feel the port.. If it had not been for the incisions I would not even have thought I had this surgery.... Is this NORMAL????

Yep you're going to be hungry until you can start eating real food again and get an adjustment. I couldnt find my port either, think it's normal not to be able to feel it.

i was banded 2 days after you. not sure why but i was blessed to not feel hunger right after i started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet until the night before my one week bandiversary. i can feel my port and it kinda grosses me out. although i think it perfectly normal not to be able to feel it right off. best wishes on your journey

re: "REAL HUNGER PAINS!" how are these different from "imaginary hunger pains"? No Bandster has ever died from 'hunger pains'. These typically decrease markedly after the first 2 or 3 weeks. Your belly is used to being stretched out maximum full. Now the mechanoreceptors in the stomach wall don't know what to do. This will get better. At least mine did.

re: "feeling port" At first I could only feel a lump by directly palpating into the incision region. As I lost layers of fat, like a snow drift melting away, gradually my port became more obvious. And there is considerable variation in how and where the ports are located. Ask your doc the next visit you make to his office.

cheers in your journey

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
