Ok, I have been tossing this idea back and forth. I have a lot of confidence in my surgeon and don't plan on leaving this earth any time soon. BUT am I jinxing myself? I wanted to write a letter to some loved ones "just in case". Yeah, I'm scared, but this is my choice, no one has pushed me into it. I want Lap-Band VERY badly but like with all surgeries, there may be complications. I wanted to write it to ensure if something happened, certain things would not go unsaid. Am I crazy? Am I jinxing myself? I was admitted into the hospital years ago and while filling out paperwork was asked if I had a will. EXCUSE ME! I was 19 at the time! I freaked out!!!!!!!!! I'm looking at possibly writing a letter, telling certain people just exactly how much I love them. Is this a bad idea? Am I totally over thinking this? Some posters make this sound so easy and I know once your through-it, it's "all gravy" but the anxiety before-hand is really getting to me. Maybe I'm just having an off day.... HELP!

No, you are not jinxing yourself. We should always make sure things are not left unsaid. This surgery is very low risk, but so is going to work or taking an airplane flight or any number of things we do everyday! I think it is a good idea (now that you mentioned it) to have a letter for each of our loved ones ALL THE TIME. In addition to trying to make sure we always part on good terms each day or go to bed only after we make sure those in our house know we love them, this letter is a great idea. I had my surgery on Wednesday and never thought of it. I wish I had. I think you should use this as an opportunity to make sure you have it on paper for the future. It probably won't be needed for this surgery, but it is inevitable that we will all come to that point. Your loved ones will appreciate it when that time comes. In the meantime, relax and enjoy the time you have.

I don't think you are jinxing yourself at all! I am 28 and single with no children and I feel like it is my responsibility to make my wishes clear for my family plus, a personal letter. I have not been banded yet (I'm praying that I will be on June 28th) but lap band surgery does carry a risk like any other surgery. It never hurts to leave a letter to your love ones.! If writing a letter will help ease your anxiety then write the letter. Like I tell everyone, Follow your heart! Good Luck!

My surgery is Tuesday. I am having a talk with my two young boys. The oldest is going to be the man of the house, much to the shagrin of his little brother if something goes very wrong. Mainly it's for me not them. Writing your letters is good therapy. Go for it!

You need to sit back and enjoy ! I know that's hard. Read the Forum, go look st the cloths you will eventually be wearing. Make some plans for your future like rewards for yourself for say..... every 25#'s that you lose, and I don't mean food.

Point is you have a whole New Life to look forward to..

Don't think Negative about such a positive thing....

What you were asked years ago, is still standard procedure.

So don't let it shake you up.

Enjoy yourself, make some plans, do plenty of research, (EVEN ON SHAKES), and enjoy the summer.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
