Excited for the band...scared of leaving my baby!

Recommended Posts

So I'm very excited it's the 23rd...as tomorrow is my day to finally be banded! I have no worries what so ever about the surgery (i've been through plenty of surgeries and I trust my surgeon 110%). BUT I'm worried about leaving my little papillon - he's never spent a night alone and I have to stay in patient a few hours from home.

How did you deal with leaving your babies behind???

Why don't you have someone watch her. I did mine outpatient so my dogs were only alone like 7 hours. If I had done it inpatient I definitely would have dropped my pups off at my parents house. As a vet tech and animal lover though, I understand you not wanting to leave her, I'm sad when I go on vacation and leave my dogs with my parents

I am the worst when it comes to my babies. So bad that I dont even like taking long vacations though I have the time and money because I hate being away from them. Even being away for a whole day drives me nuts sometimes.

My band surgery was hard for me because my dogs were left alone at my house and my friends were just going to take them for a few walks. I worried so much and left as soon as I could the next day, not even the pain could stop me.

There is really no way to get over leaving your babies alone. You just have to worry about your own self in recovery and trust that they will be fine.

I swear my dogs love when I leave for a long time because that means they get more treats :P

Lol alienbandit, whenever I leave for work I give my dogs treats, my older dog tries to rush me out of the house so she can get one.

Sometimes I swear my oldest wakes me up earlier in hopes ill leave the house earlier so she can get her treats earlier. After our morning walk she mostly sits in her crate waiting for her treat even though it will be another hour before her treat, but she doesn't care. Maybe she is afraid she'll miss "the treat boat"

Anyways I know it is hard to leave your baby, but it would only be for one night and he will probably be more worried about you when you come home looking injured and unable to do all the things you did before.

Thanks...I cuddled lots with him last night, he seems to know somethings up because he's been extra clingy! He is staying with my dad (my parents are switching so someone will be at home with all of our pets). But I still worry! I got a little dog so I could take him everywhere...and even though he's a certified therapy dog, they won't let him stay. I was hoping to make people believe he was just a realistic stuffed animal  I'm leaving in 45 minutes! I've been up since 3am because I just can't sleep.

Is it 10am yet?? (My surgery time!)

Anyways...since I'm up early, I'll go ahead and take him out and play for a little bit. Thanks for the support, it's nice some other people feel the same way about their pets!

Yay! I'm typing this from my hospital room. I have a pretty sweet, private room with a great view. I just walked a little down the hall, still needing the morphine though. Overall I feel pretty good, but these gas pains are horrid in both shoulders and make it hard to breath. Everything went well, but I am missing my dog...taking a walk without him was weird.

Anyways, I'm bored sitting here so figured I'd post. Do I have any regrets? NOPE!

Congrats. Glad you're feeling well. I'm sure the dog is fine and just think of all the extra energy you'll have to play with him once the weight starts falling off. Walk as much as you can and do some arm stretches and exercises. It will help with the gas pains.

Thanks Cindy! I've been walking but having quite a bit of pain so it's just short little walks. He has motivated me to do this so I can be more active with him! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
