I'm very curious whether I'm the oldest bander out there !!! I hope to be banded in early August and I will be 67 Sept 1st. I kind of figure that this is my "last hurrah". If I don't do it now, it'll be too late. Is it too late already?? My BMI is 38, but I have diabetes (insulin), apnea, hi BP, cholesteral, etc, etc. I desperately want to be healthy, thin and off all of my meds. What do you think? Is anybody out there who banded close to my age?

Well your older than me and maybe older than a lot of others here but who cares. Do it for yourself and family and get off those meds and live a better life for you.

I am being banded on May 25th. I am almost 62. I also have the diabetes, BP, etc. I admire you having it done now. I thought I was going to be told I am too old, but I want to live to be older so I gave it a try.

67 is the new 57, right? I think it is GREAT that you have decided to do this for yourself regardless of your age.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I really appreciate the support! My husband died 9 years ago and I just ended my first relationship since then. He liked me just the way I am, but then again, I found out he was a con artist and didn't tell me he had been married 6 (YES 6!!!!) times. He left owing me money, but I figure that I escaped with the most important parts of me intact. This experience has helped to make me strong and emphatic about starting a new chapter in my life -- even at this age! The new chapter is not to have a man in my life, but to become a strong, independent woman with really good health -- and thin!! I read this forum every night and even though I still have to wait until August fo get banded, you all keep me inspired (and sometimes scared!). Thank you again for your support!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
