I have been banded for two months today and I feel great! I have lost about 27 pounds since surgery, have more energy, and just feel better about myself. I am able to exercise and eat smaller portions and I am not so obessed with food. Gotta learn to slow down my eating and not take big bites...but this whole thing is a learning process.

so glad I did this for myself!!

Hi Rachel, Congatulations on your progress, I am up to setting the date for my lapband, but I have had 2 therapist appts and still have another, and I was just wondering , did you get scared or have any doubts before your surgery at the last, just before you were banded.

YES! I wrote "goodbye" letters to my kids before surgery. I was scared. I knew I had to do something radical to get the weight off--no diet/exercise program worked for me. I was constantly stressed and hungry. I made a decision to do it. I had regrets the first or two after surgery. But, then, I started to feel better and better. I found I had more energy to exercise and just do the things that needed done around my house. I can play more with my kids. I followed my "gut" and my advice to you is to do the same thing.

good luck and hugs!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
