Hi Everyone, I've just signed up for this site today.

I am from New Zealand, but have been teaching/living in South Korea since 2006. I've found a specialist hospital here in Seoul, and am having my surgery THIS Saturday - May 21st!

I'm very excited to get started. No one back home other than my brother know's I am having the surgery done this month (they think I'm saving to have it done in NZ next year).

I'm really looking forward to stepping off the plane in a year or so, and showing off the new me!

I look forward to making new friends on here, to support, and share this journey with.

Have a great week all!

Gordana

Hi Gordana,

Welcome to LBT. You will find a wealth of information and nice people here. There are many different perspectives and experiences with the band. But, let your experience be your experience. My family has not seen me as well. I sent some pictures via Facebook for mother's day but they have not seen my 123 pound loss in person. I can't wait to step off the plane in December. I want to lose 30 more pounds to be at goal by then. I live in Germany and will go home to the States for Christmas. I wish you much success on your journey.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
