Energy drinks with the lap band?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I have been struggling all day to stay awake at work. I have a desk job so I am usually sittng most of the day. I am on my second cup of coffe. I haven't really had an any in 2 weeks.

I know if I eat Snacks I will be able to stay awake for aleast an hour. But, I don't want to do that.

Has anybody tired those 5 hour energy drinks? I haven't. Will it help me stay awake?

Check with your surgeon on if it's allowed. My surgeon doesn't allow any form of stimulants (energy drinks, caffeine, "natural" remedies, etc) as they said these can also "stimulate" the appetite. So you may want to consider working through it if possible. I see you recently had your surgery so your body may very well still be adapting and you could experience some fatigue. Make sure you're taking your Vitamins :)

Are you getting enough Water? You could be dehydrated...I know I had that problem before surgery and felt better once I started drinking the recommended amount.

Being dehydrated can lead to being sleepy? Hmm, that is a new one to me. I've had a hard time getting in as much Fluid as I normally drink. I used to just chug down Water. Now I have to do just a couple of sips at a time. I noticed in the past 4 days that I am able to take in bigger sips. But, I am so worried about stretching out my pouch, that I am still taking the sips one or two at a time.

Has anybody stretched out their pouches from drinking too much, too fast?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
