I had surgery on april 29th, so since surgery I have been kind of burping. Is this normal? Seems when I drink Water, about 10 minutes or so later I have to burp. Also if I eat, Soup or anything I have to burp 10-15 minutes after to. Seems to me that I am burping alot lately. Not loud but very gently burp, if that makes sense. I asked the nurse about this also and she said it could be the gas from surgery and me taking in air while I sip or eat. But I heard if you keep burping this can increase your pouch. Just nervous...

Right after surgery, every single thing I ate or drank made me burp. It felt automatic. I was worried I'd stay like that forever, but I'm almost a month out now and it's definitely slowed down. I do still burp more than I used to... not sure why, but it's nowhere near like it was the first 2 weeks post surgery.

I always burp when I am eating now (surgery was April 19). My doc told me I am eating too fast or not chewing enough which is getting too much air in my stomach, creating the burping. He said it is more common to have an increase in burping, but to be sure I am taking my time eating.

Also, the first 7-10 days after surgery, the burping comes from the laproscopic surgery itself. They fill you with air/gas to work in your stomach. All that air has to come out!

Soon it wont be as bad. I was so worried too, i was burping like a man and never did before surgery. It has really dimished Since. Your digestive system is all screwed up. Some have told me they had problems until couple weeks after they started eating solids, some keep gaz inside body longer.

Dont worry!!! But one think, do not eat gum, my doctor was very serious about that. Chewing gum will pump air inside your stomac and you will need to burp and fart:(

Thanks for all the replies. I don't eat or chew gum, so that won't be a problem. I take around 15-20 minutes to eat or more, so I am going pretty slow and drinking slow also, its just weird feeling of have to burp all the time, I am hoping this will go away soon. Thanks

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
