Hello, yes it can be very painfull, mine were horrible. For me what worked was walking walking walking and the heating pads. Another thing, id sit down on the couch and lower my head so it would touch my knees, when doing it a couple times, it would allow me to burp so much and to pass lot of the gaz. Some say gaz meds helps, but i have asked my doctor, he said it didnt, i have asked my godmother and cousin who are pharmasists and they also said it didnt because it is not for the same type of gas. The pain comes from gas that was inserted during surgery and needs to be absorbed by your body so you can eleminate it. i have tried those meds, and it was money waisted:)

Walk and heating pads and lower ur head to your knees, it will soon forgotten:)

Yep soon as you can get up outta bed..walk alot. The more you lay in the bed and dont move around, the more you hurt with the gas pains.

Walking, Gas X strips, and a heating pad, otherwise it's nothing you can avoid; it's all part of the journey.

Good luck to the both of you.

I had my band done 4 days ago, and still have one gas bubble left. It has been stuck in my freakin left shoulder. I asked my sister, a nurse, how I can get rid of it, she also said walk walk walk, also lay upside down in a chair, yes it does hurt to get there, but it is worth it. It helps move the bubbles to your belly where you can rub them out too. I walked with a pillow on my belly pushing gently to help move the gas. I did end up buying Gas X today, and I can say that my pain is less. I wasnt going to try this as losts of people say it wouldnt work. I asked my sister and she said it may or may not work but once the gas is absorbed in the stomach then it will help. It did help with those, not the shoulder.

Good luck Stu71!! And good job for making this choice.

My biggest mistake was not getting up walking after my surgery i was in so much pain that I was afraid to move. But I paid for it dearly and my suffering may have been very similiar to what your wife is experiencing. Now I try to walk almost immediatly after eating. Gas x helped me tremendously. Along with pain medication my doc prescribed it made the gas pains from the surgery bareable. Goodluck to you and your wifey!

The best thing you can do it walk. I walked all night after my surgery because I couldn't sleep due to the gas pain. If you are going to buy Gas-X, buy the chewables, NOT the strips. The strips only have like 62g of simethicone while the chewables have abt 125g. You're def going to want the higher dose!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
