Since I am haivng surgery at the end of the month (May 27th) I am trying to get everything together before the big day. I want to know what I should really buy? food scale, strainer, measuring cups?? The doctors gave me a list but I don't want to buy a bunch of stuff if I don't really need it.

Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thanks for the input!

I have a scale, it's good to weigh your food because 4oz of feathers is alot more than 4oz of bricks but oin the other side of the coin, you want to have 4oz of volume....

As far as food, I brought sf Jello, sf popcicles, I went and got Soups from chili's and divided them into 2oz little cups. Oh, yeah the little cups I got from GFS food services. They are just like the once that you get from resturants with your to go sauces in them. I also saved old sides containers from like kfc, boston market and I reuse those...they hold about 4-5oz of food. sf pudding, Vitamin Water 0, and sobo Water with 0 calories, plus crystal lite hungar satisfaction which has 3g of protein! I still use those! Motts sf applesauce is great! good for when you want something sweet. I had lots of things, some things I didn't want, like my instant mashed potatoes and my cream of wheat cinnabon flavor. I could also use any seasonings I wanted..

Hope I have helped a little. I have found that every doctor is different and that what was approved for me may not be for you and vice versa. But good luck nontheless!

You'll definitely need measuring cups. I didn't use a strainer at all. A food scale would be nice, yes. I definitely suggest a blender for making your Protein Drinks and possibly for pureeing Soups, etc. If you're really planning on grinding down meats then you'll want a food processor. I've just been sticking to meats that are already ground or shredded during my mushy stage (ground beef, shredded chicken breast, tuna, etc) and it's been fine.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
