Today is 3 weeks from my surgery. For the past couple of days I have been having a burning type of feeling under the incision by my belly button. It is gradually getting worse. Before it only hurt a little bit when I sat down. Now it hurts when I first sit down, when I lay down on that side, when I bend over. I'm worried that I ripped something inside. Has anyone ever felt this? I'm kind of freaking out thinking about internal bleeding and stuff. The office opens at 9:30 and I'm going to call but, I thought I would check the board to see if any of you know about this.

Earlier this week I had to pick up my daughter to put her in a shopping cart. Maybe I did it then. I know I was not supposed to pick her up until after today but, I didn't have a choice. Ugh! DumbA$$!

I wonder if it's a slight infection. That is good your calling the doc. Keep us posted.

I called and the nurse said it is scar tissue. She said that picking up my daughter or turning the wrong way could have pulled it and that is why I am feeling a burning tugging sort of feeling. She said it will go away. Apparently it can take up to 6 months before the scar tissue turns soft. As long as there is no redness or draining, she said it is fine. Whew!!!!! I can stop thinking about internal bleeding, passing out and dying now. :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
