United insurance

Does anyone else have united buy up plan.......the bariatric center I'm using told me I had been approved by united ......so I drove all the way to Denver yesterday ........and they said the approval was just for the office visit..........I know what I heard when she called me......so now I have to do 6 months of dietary classes, that united requires that....... What has been the experience other people have had? I kind of feel she was deceptive to get me to Denver........... Thanks Laura

I have Aetna Insurance and they require 6 months of doctor visits. My first visit was in March and I didn't have my surgery until September. I went once a month and they recorded my weight. I think all insurance companies have certain requirements that you have to follow before you have the surgery. Call United and see what are there requirements before they give approval for you to have the surgery. Unless you are doing self-pay then you don't need approvals, you just follow what ever the doctor says.

Hi, I have United here in Indiana. I am still trying find my way through the maze of insurance. The doctors and the building are in the network, but the practice or classes are not. Most insurances will have you go through certain steps to get any elective surgery. I use elective very loosely.
