Time frame/nutritionist questions.;)

Okay! Hey guys:) I'm very excited, but I'll seriously try to keep it in check..lol.. Okay. I'm not sure if this query has been answered yet, but I was wondering how long it can take to get approved once you've met with the nutritionist (2nd meeting done-lost 9 pounds in 8 days- and blew her away) and just got the okay from the psychiatrist(yea!) I have Anthem Blue cross(california) which I've heard moves things pretty quick. Also, I can tell my nutritionist doen't really want me to do the Band-and I'm losing- does she have any say in whether or not I get the band?I mean, they put you on a diet, right? They want you to lose, right? Or am I just worrying for no reason? Thanks Lap band Fam!!!

I think you are worrying for no reason. They know all to well that we have all lost weight many times just to put it back on again. (Good job by the way). After I was approved and all my initial stuff was done they called me and scheduled me for surgery 6 weeks later. I'm sure it depends on the schedule and how many others they have. Trust me that six weeks felt like 2. It was here and gone in no time. Congrats! and keep up the good work!

Thanks SO much for the info (and congrats on your loss!!) Very reassuring! I know I see the Gastro next and half to undergo a few more tests(thankfully, I've had the same doctor/dr.s' office for over 15 years-they have records of every attempt..lol..) then it's off to the races! thanks again!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
