May 12th here I come!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm 31 years old from Miami, Florida. Im a proud mother of 3 baby girls under the age of 5. Although I always had a tendency of gaining weight rather fast (very slow metabolism) I always managed to maintain a healthy weigh my whole life. That of course all changed when I got pregnant with my first baby. I gained 90 lb. It took me 2 years to lose 50 lb and then to my surprise I got pregnant again. I was already over weight and I gained another 40 lb. Then when the new baby was 2 months old I happened to get pregnant again. To make the story short, today I'm at 237 lb with a BMI of 41.

I have been doing research on the LapBand for a while and finally I decided to go ahead with it.

My surgery date is May 12th With Dr. Gonzalez at South Miami HospitalCan't wait to start thicker phase in my life.

Doing well so far. Surprised I haven't had hunger pains yet, but I have never had to pee so much in my life. Evenings are the worst for me. I seem to think about food then. I live in wa so my surgery will be at St Francis in Federal Way. It's been a long journey so far I can't wait to start the post surgery side.

Well, I did it. I'm doing surprisingly very well. I haven't had bad gas pains. I did tart walking right away so I think that helped a lot. Today my new life start. YEPPY!!!

Lucky you that you don't have the gas. I have both upper and lower, back, shoulder... my husband says I sound like a drunken sailor! I was banded on May 10th. I find it funny how much the protocol changes depending on where you live and which doc you use. Some people had to do liquids for up to ten day prior to the surgery. My diet was low fat Protein, no carbs including fruit. The day before I was on Clear Liquids all day. My first day of liquids began on the 10th. Some people say they had no appetite at all and I wish I could say that too. But I was very hungry yesterday and thank god I was able to move on to thicker liquids. I too have either the "fat gene" or a slow metabolism. I am a zumba instructor, teach three classes per week and would loose about 1 pound and by the following week gain 2-3 pounds. Very frustrating. Good luck and if you would like to keep in touch you can email me anytime.

I'm sorry to hear about ur pains. I was so worry that I was going to be one of the unlucky ones with all the pains but I wasn't. Today is my 3rd day post op and I'm feeling so good. I am starting to learn the new signs my body gives me. I get a little pain when is time to eat and then another type of pain when I need to stop. I'm on the 2 weeks liquid diet and other than the Protein Shakes I can eat very well. I bought the ENS protein/multivitamins shakes and I can't stand them. I think I'm going to do the Multivitamins by itself. Overall I'm extremely excited about all the possibility ahead of me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
