I was banded exactly one month ago today and a problem im having is im still hungry. I always read about how people are full after they eat a egg, or a few spoons of this or that and theyre are bloated and it feels like the food is stuck on their throat, my worry is i have yet to have the "im so full" feeling. I stop eating around 2-4 ounces (thats what i was told by doctor) because i know the effects of over eating, but i always thought i would be full by eating that much, but im never full off what i eat. Any suggestions, similar problems, tips, advice?

Not sure what im doing wrong, im doing my liquids and eating the right things, i just never feel full.

You are not going to feel full until about the third fill. It is not about being full its about being satisfied. You are going to be hungry that is a mis conception that you will never be hungy

I don't ever feel "full" anymore.. that feeling is gone. What I feel is satisfied. It takes a while to get used to the difference. I used to feel full in my lower stomach. Now I think I what I was actually feeling was stuffed.

If you keep seeking the full feeling, you could possibly end up stretching your upper tummy above the band and that's not a good thing.

And it may take a fill or two or three or possibly even more to get the "satisfied after eating my small meal" feeling. Until then, drink lots of fluids between meals. If fluids don't hold you.. have a low calorie, high Protein snack. examples: apple w string cheese, small container cottage cheese, low carb yogurt (many yogurts have way too much sugars and defeat the purpose of eating them.. read labels carefully), wasa cracker w/ light laughing cow cheese.

Dr. Simpson explains it way better than I ever could:

As mentioned previously some people never feel full more like satisfied. I got to a full feeling after getting to 10.7 CC's in a 11 CC band. Took me 6 months. Some people get there much quicker but this could take you a while. Even at restriction I measure all my Protein. For now get a good digital scale and measure you food out. When it's gone stop eating. Hard but that's what I had to do.

Another comment I think some people get unrealistic expections based on posts of "I can only eat a few bites". 3oz of solid Protein and 1/2 cup + of veggies is more than a few bites. Esp. considering you need to take small bites.

Thanks guys this was a lot of help, im guessing i fell under the misconception of thinking that once you have a band you always feel full and you get full fast as well. Im excited to start getting my fills and get this thing on the road.

I never feel full, and when I called they told me that it was normal and it will take me awhile to get used to it. I had my surgery on Febraury 7, 2011 and had my first fill on March 22, 2011. Is there any food out there that will give you a full sensation? I chew gum in between meals and drink alot of Water.

Where is there a good website for recipes without fish, I am allergic to fish and alot of recipes uses it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
