Good Morning All:

I am a long time bander. June 1st of this year will be my six year mark of having my band. I have had absolutely no problems. I have lost 110 lbs I have gone from 276 lbs to 166 lbs and from a size 28 to a size 12 - 14 even some 10's. I am so happy with my results. My concern this morning is band slippage. I became ill last Sunday night and had some vomiting throughout the day on Monday and Monday night. I went to the doctor or Tuesday and was told it was just a virus. They did x-rays and the band seemed to be in place, but it was just a regular x-ray, no contrast and was done by my regular pcp. I am feeling much better now but seem to be having trouble eating and drinking. I can eat soft foods and drink, but very little. I feel very very tight, like I did a couple years ago when I had a fill that was too tight. I am wondering if maybe my stomach is just irritated from being sick and this will resolve on its own or has my band slipped? I am thinking of going Monday and having my fill removed to see if this will help. I am very worried about this. It is easter weekend and I know I can't do anything until Monday. If anyone has any ideas please share. I pray there is no problems. Thanks for any advise you may have!

I've never been sick like that, but from what I've read if it just seems tight and you can get liquids down it is probably just irritated from the vomiting. I would just do liquids for the weekend and see how that goes, you should probably still go in and just make sure everything is ok.

Hopefully it is just irritated!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
