Talk to your surgeon. Most of them require you to be on a full liquid diet for a week or more to shrink the liver. This will make doing the procedure easier since the liver is right near the stomach. Definitely find out what the surgeon requires.

All doctors are not the same in their requirements for a pre op diet. My doctor just had me follow a high protein and low carb diet a week before survey. I decided to try some of the protein drinks before hand and lost 12 pounds in a very short time.

Check with your doctors office to see what they suggest.
