Congestion After Fill and no weight loss

Recommended Posts

I had a small fill last month and now my weight loss has stopped and I seem to have a considerable amout on congestion after I eat. After eating a small amount I sometimes have to cough to get the congestion out of the way. Since being banded in January I have never been sick but since my last fill I have has a few times I thought that I would be sick but only clear looking flem (sorry) will come up and after it clears I feel fine. Am I too tight or is this normal? My weight loss has stalled since the fill!

When do you start getting congested? Only after you eta, or while you are eating? And how much can you eat at a meal? How long is it after you eat that you start to feel hungry again?

I did not get congested at all before the last fill and most of the time its after I start eating I usually have to stop and cough. As far as eating I measure my food most of the time and sometimes I cannot finish it. I am not getting hungry after this last fill. Before I was getting hungry a couple of hours after I ate but I lost 6 pounds for my check up.

Getting congested might be your boodies silent signal that you are "full. Everyone has different signs. It could be you've hit a platuea(sp?). It happens. Are you getting any excersize in at all. If you are, try swicthing up what you do. shake up your routine. To me it doesn't sound like you need a fill, but I'm not a Dr, so who knows.

I am getting some exercise, but not what I would like to get. I can change that up. I am wondering if I have a little too much since my last fill since the weight loss has stopped. I have an appointment Next Tuesday so I will ask then...thanks

Just wanted to pipe in here and say that I too get congested while I eat and have to stop eating and cough up mucus. I do believe the other poster is correct that it is our signal that we've eaten enough. I haven't had a fill in over a year, the congestion has only been going on for a few months now. I see my surgeon next week and plan to ask this same question.

Let me know what you find out and I will do the same. I go on Tuesday for my monthly chek-up.

Hope you guys get an answer and please come back and update your post. Thanks good luck

Doc said that I might be a little on the tight side. Gonna wait a month and see how I do unless I have a problem before that.

I'm having an endoscopy this afternoon because I've developed intense pain in my chest area. Will update later.

My endoscopy showed that I have an ulcerated esophagus. The endoscopy is unable to diagnose a slipped band so I have to go back for an upper G.I. x-ray to check my bands position, but the doctor thinks the ulcer is causing my pain and the other issues and that my band is probably fine.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
