I was banded 2/10/11. I have only lost 10 pounds since surgery. I still have a full apetite. I have had 3 fills which combined, only total 2.3cc's. I would think that my doctor would have given me bigger fills. It seems very slow moving. Just wondering what size fills others get. Please advise.

Hang in there I think that it is good to go slow. I would prefer for the weight loss to be a little slower and not be uncomfortable/sick all the time.

I was banded on 12-29-10 and had my first fill on 2-5-11. I had about 1.5 in my band when it was put in and the surgeon added 2 for a total of 3.5. I just had the second fill on 4-5 and as I had lost 13 pounds in 6 weeks my Dr was considering not adding any Fluid but decided to add .5 to bring me up to 4 in a 10cc band to keep me on track. It's amazing the difference that I have experienced from an addition of .5. I can eat almost as much but I have to be much more careful about how I chew food and how slowly I eat. I have had some uncomfortable dinners since the 2nd fill where I ended up on the front porch spitting over the railing to keep from throwing up. So far I have mananged not to throw up so I guess that's a good sign.

I am thrilled with my progress, I have lost 39.8 pounds since my surgery and when you add the 15 lbs that I lost pre-op I am down 54.8 pounds and a total of 76 pounds from my highest ever weigh in.

Thanks. I appreciate your feed back. I really want this to work. The only time I even know I have a band is if I don't chew well and swallow too soon, and then food gets stuck. Not fun But I want to have less appetite and feel full with a smaller quantity of food.

Thanks again

For my first fill, my doctor gave me 6 cc's. Then I found out that for each fill, he takes everything out and starts all over again. My second fill was 6.2 and my third fill (a week ago) was 6.8. I have a 10cc band. Does anyone else's doctor do this?

Every doctor does it different. If your doctor doesn't have a fluroscope, he's gotta do it little by little. I got 5.5ccs in my first fill.

Every doc is different. Every stomach is different. Here are my fills:

7/9/09 at surgery 2.7cc (felt restriction 4 weeks)

8/28/09 1st fill +1.2cc = 3.9cc (restriction 3 wks)

09/25/09 2nd fill +1.4cc = 5.3cc (very tight 15 days...then good restriction) Sweet spot

I'm getting a little fill on the 6th because it's time ..... hungry too quick now.

Thanks to all that replied. It really helps me to understand that it is different for everyone. My Doc is taking it really slow, so I need to use the time to get used to the tiny bites and over chewing. LOL I do appreciate the feedback.

I was banded 1/10/11 and have lost 21 pounds. My first fill was 6 weeks later and they put in 4cc, I felt some restriction for a couple of weeks. My second fill was 6 weeks later and supposedly they put in .5cc. I went back yesterday after 3 weeks because I was starving. Dr said I had 4ccs so they did not give anything at my last fill. Yesterday they put in 1 cc for a total of 5. I havent really been able to eat much to see yet. Hope things get easier for you. Just hang in there and be sure to exercise. Keep me posted on your progress.

Michelle

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
