No longer overfilled

Recommended Posts

I have been banded for 2 1/2 years. I have been overfilled for close to a year now. I know, I know, I let it go on for way too long and it was dangerous. I was lucky and nothing went wrong. I was enjoying the great weightloss but started having problems with vimiting and dehydration. I had some Fluid taken out and now can eat much more. My Dr told me that I would immediatly gain due to the dehydration and not to get discouraged. Its only been 4 days and I have gained 10 lbs. Im freaking out because I dont know how to eat now. I had got used to having a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch because I couldnt eat untill the evening before. Now they dont fill me up and I need to eat solids. For dinner before I ate whatever I wanted because I could eat such a small amount. Now I can eat more so I know I have to eat healthier foods for dinner. Please give me suggestions for meals!! Thank you all!!!!

Wow! A year is a long time. I was overfilled for 2 weeks and it was incredibly painful...but the weightless was good.

My suggestion is that you follow your original rules. First the Protein (3 oz), then your veggies, them starches as needed. Not to exceed 1cup...but every surgeon is different. Get your Water in, that help fire up your metabolism. Get your exercise in and Just because you can eat more...don't allow yourself to. Just get up and walk away from the table. Glad to hear you are no longer overfilled!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
