Were you always hungry before your first fill?

Recommended Posts

was banded 03/15 and am eating small bits of chicken now and mushies. The problem is for the first 3 weeks I wasn't hungry and now my hunger is really picking up and out of the weight I have lost, I have gained two pounds back no matter that I am still eating very little. This sucks. Does it get better with the first fill? I miss that full feeling where I wasn't ever hungry. Any March bandsters have a first fill yet? Does it help. I am dying for a fill and wish I didn't have to wait the full six weeks.

I actually wasn't that hungry.. but my fill KILLED my hunger, after it set in for a few weeks, I just lost my appetite (I got 5.5ccs for my fill), I'm almost never hungry anymore. If you get a really tiny fill, that may not happen, it may take a few before you get that feeling.

Gaining weight or not losing at this point is normal, the first 6 weeks is about healing it'll even out :)

Until my first fill, which was 4 weeks post-op, it was as though I did not have the surgery at all. Only time I felt any difference was the first week after surgery, and that was probably inflammation of the band site giving some restriction.

I just had my 2nd fill 2 days ago, and I am now feeling the band doing it's job. 4cc's first fill, 2cc's 2nd fill. I see my Dr. every 4 weeks.

But that first 4 weeks..........Only reason I lost weight was due to the post-op diet regime. And was always hungry.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
