What are your opinions on progress pictures? I have always been eager to take them when I've dieted and trained before. A close friend mentioned to me the other day that she wanted to take one a week, and for some reason it just feels funny to think about it now. I feel like I made the decision to have this surgery so that I can start a new life - one where I don't remember what it's like right now and has been as long as I can remember. Did anyone else have these feelings? She says I need to remember where I started, but I want to forget. Your thoughts?

I am taking one before and one after.....but then I hate having my picture taken. Maybe that will change. If you do, take them once a month....weekly seems excessive.

I took one pre-op; haven't cared to look at it, don't plan to. I still see myself as that person anyways LOL.

I dont plan to take progree pictures. I have some pictures that are from the holidays before I started the lap band journey. Since surgery on 3/11 I havent taken any pictures but I have a little calendar and I write down my weight each Friday. I think that is all the visual that I need to see that I am loosing weight. Maybe you could take one photo per month on the same day each month. That might be a little more obtainable and you will see real change.

I took several photos from all angles about 8 months ago (pre-surgery) and again about a month ago. I have them hanging on the back of my b bedroom door. I can truly appreciate the differences I see. It helps support my belief that I made the right decision having Lap Band.

I think the occasional progress photo is good for me, but I am not going to obsess over them.

Good luck everyone!

I've been terrible with taking pictures. I have a picture from the night before I was banded and I'm planning on taking an updated picture next week for my 6 month post-op picture.

I have been taking progress pics, though not in any systematic way. I'll tell you that they have come in handy on those days when I'm feeling down and "fat" and like I haven't made much progress in a while. All I have to do is take out the pictures and have visual evidence that I have changed quite dramatically.

You might consider taking at least one before picture (a body shot, and if you do a second, a face shot). You might never look at it again, but someday you might want to and if you don't take the picture, you'll be out of luck.

I have enough of those damn 'before' pictures of me around the house. I did however hang onto a pair of pants I wore at my high point. It's cool every so often to try them on and see how far you've come.

I was just thinking about that yesterday that it was time for another picture. I remember back 2 months ago before my surgery that looking at the before and after pictures of people who have gone before me really did give me hope that I could do it too. I want to be able to give someone else that hope some day. I have lost 28 lbs and it may not totally be visable in pictures yet but when I am done, I hope that other's who are contemplating surgery can see that it may look like it took some time for me to see big changes but every little bit contributes to the final goal.

I was going to post my before/after pics but can't figure out how to do it. Does anyone know? I have jpeg files.

I could be wrong, but I think to post directly in a post, you have to host the picture somewhere online like photobucket or flicker, and then hit that little picture icon above-- post the url of the pic online in that box.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
