I have a gnawing feeling at the top of my stomach... I feel "full" but this feels like hunger pangs (pains). Not sure whether I'm dealing with hunger or not. I've had 2 shakes and some Soup today. (was banded on 4/1) having some issues with gas, but walking and gasX are helping. These don't feel like gas pains...

any thoughts?

its amazing how many people will view my question but no one feels it necessary to respond to me. I thought this was a support board

i've had the same thing. banded 3/24... but i think most of it is i "think" i'm hungry because i see food or smell food. my stomach usually feels full after i eat, so it shouldn't be hunger pangs.

It is difficult to say whether or not what you are experiencing is hunger because it seems like everyone experiences it differently, just as everyone experiences full/satisfied differently. I hear of people hiccuping or burping when "full", but I just stop eating when I start feeling pressure under my sternum. I often have what I think is hunger, but is more often a craving. I have discovered that if I drink a cup of hot cocoa made with skim milk and sweetener, I am no longer "hungry".

When I am truly hungry, my stomach growls. If it is not time to eat, I drink more Water to put it off eating until the next meal.

I know this is more of a non-answer, but it's the best one I have.

Oops... Continued...

I am not sure what you are feeling there. I didn't feel hunger post op and i still don't feel hunger so I'm not sure what it feels like with the band. My hunger ends up feeling more like I get a bit weak or cognitively slow and then I realize I need to eat.

I had the same pains and assume it's just part of the healing process? After a few days it went away

I am assuming you are still in your liquid post-op phase after a liquid pre-op phase, so you probably are hungry. The trick is to satisfy the hunger with some liquid. It will get better... mine did!

Good luck everyone!

I think it is most likely gas. I had real bad gas after my surgery. If gas-x and walking helps, it is probably gas. I used to get my stomach growling(in church when every one else was quite), but it wasn't hunger. You will be okay, just follow your surgeon's rules, drink lots of liquids. I found that pop-cycles were especially good for me. Good luck, Karen

I just always thought of it as my stomach was angry for having surgery and being blowed up with gas! It was mad for being on liquids for so many days as well! I didn't get hungry until almost 2 weeks after surgery because my gas stuck around for awhile and I always felt full and bloated.

Since your surgery was only a week ago it could be that you are still quite swollen. As you drink it's taking a while for the liquid to drain from the pouch to the "big stomach". I think of the pouch like a funnel. Now six months out the are times that I have eaten and am "full" but my lower stomach gurgles and growls because it's technically empty.

My stomach makes all kinds of new noises now. Especially when my pouch empties in the my stomach. Whatever you don't do what I just did. I had a teaspoon of yogurt when I'm supposed to be clea r liquids and I am paying for it.

Sometimes I feel like a really loud growl and think my stomach is growling but then I'm not hungry at all. It's a weird sensation. I am thinking maybe like the previous poster said it might be my stomach emptying into the lower part or gas or something. I'm still figuring things out myself!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
