i get my first fill on Thursday! I'm praying to God that I will have some sort of restrictions!! Right now I feel like I can eat WHATEVER I want! I definitely do not! That I promise u... but the other day I made mac n cheese for my hubby and tried a bite and man can I just tell you the guilt I felt after. I don't know what to do!! U feel like I should never touch a fry, steak, bread, or ne thing along the lines of not really being to great for u.

I had a family cookout today. While my family sat there eating pulled pork, potato salad, and cole slaw, I was eating grilled chicken and steamed green beans!! agh! I'm becoming a good cook when it comes to healty stuff but damnit i want a BIG MAC!

I just need advice guys! I'm struggling :(

I know how you feel about food guilt. But I have to really put it in perspective because I know that I used to be able to eat 2-3 cups of mac and cheese and now my doctors diet says that I can have 1/2 cup of Pasta. So I eat my protien first and veg 1/2 cup. Then if I still want the mac and cheese I eat my half cup serving. But to be truthful because it takes me so long to eat the first two when I get to the mac and cheese I have so far had like three bites and I am full. Now if I didnt have it on my plate as an option then I would feel really deprived but this way I know it is there if i want it.

I go for my first fill this morning. I wish you the best luck on your journey.

Hey Ronnie, I definately can relate to feeling no restriction with my band currently and I get my first fill on Friday so i am anxious. Please keep us updated on how yours went on Thursday since it is the day before mine and I am a little nervous about the whole procedure of getting a fill. This week is my first week eating regular foods so i took a while to eat anything and have lost 20lbs without the restriction and I am praying for restriction as well to help shed more pounds. Well Good Luck and hopefully after this week we both will be happy with the restriction from the first fill! Happy Monday!:D

Here's to hoping you get some sort of restriction! I too have had to deal with the "food guilt" but I'm slowly realizing that no food is bad; honestly, nothing. All food has some sort of nutritional value, the idea is to ensure that it fits within your caloric/macronutrient needs (ie. carbs, fats, etc.) I eat kids Cereal every other day. "Healthy?" Probably not, but man do I love cinnamon toast crunch. I also eat almonds like a fiend along with dark chocolate. At the end of the day, as long as I exercise and keep track of what I eat, I know I won't gain and I try to push those guilty feelings far away.

I will say that early post-op I didn't allow myself most foods. I was strict, did low carb for 6-7 months then let myself just much more lax. Good luck!

I remember how excited I was to get my first fill. However, it took 3 fills for me to feel any kind of restriction. For some lucky people one fill does it. I hope that happens to you, just be aware it may not. Good luck in your journey!

Thanks guys! I don't know if i will feel any type of restriction :(. at my first post op check up my doctor said I had the smallest stomach he's operated on.. so even the smallest band was too big. So I'm taking it that he will put a lot in my band.... cause he knows it's too big, or he wont. I'm just so nervous! I need to get full fast! I'm at that slump! I lost about 30 lbs in the first month... and it's been almost 2 months.. I'm going to the gym and eating healthy... but nothing! I feel how I did before surgery! :(

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
