I just wanted to wish good luck to all the people getting banded this coming week - I hope you all do very well. Welcome to your new lifestyle and congratulations on the journey we will take together!

I know you are all apprehensive, because I was too. Keep positive - I'm still here, as are others who were banded last week. We're in it together!

I second that!! Day four is a million times better than day 1. You all will do fine. I am struggling to get enough calories in and am a bit dizzy but have upped my Protein intake and it should get better. Cheers to April 2011 Bandsters!!cool.gif

I am glad to hear you are doing better. I am feeling much better as well. For the past two days, I have been waking up feeling like i am about to vomit. I get the watery feeling in my mouth, spit it out and drink some Water.

It is a little scary for me. I hope it is not acid reflux. I have heard several horror stories. Back to work tomorrow. I will something else to focus on and plan to take it very very slow.

Merriemish, did your surgeon give you anti-nausea meds for post-op? Mine did, they dissolve on the tongue, but I've had no issues with that. I'm glad you are feeling better though! Take it easy and don't overdo it at work tomorrow.

Congrats Jax! Are you on your pre-op diet yet?

Thanks. I start Optifast shakes on the 13th and it'll run all the way until right before surgery (then it is nothing after midnight?). I think my mind is already wrapped around a new way of eating. I just went to my favorite casual dining spot as a bit of a send off. I usually get their big salad with double chicken and a large fry with ranch dressing (their ranch is insanely good). Today I got a 1/2 salad with no extra meat and small order of fries and could only eat half of each. No massively stuffed feeling and no guilt.

Hi Jax

I am on day 6 of my pre-op diet and not hungry at all. I am on Optifast w/water (6 shakes a day) and no solid food at all. I do hear that some people on pre-op are hungry but I think they are mostly on other programs (slim fast, Atkins shakes, etc). The best part of all is that they don't taste disgusting which I was eternally grateful for since I have to be on them for 3 weeks! I hope your pre-op diet goes well. I also started to change my way of eating before so that it would not be so dramatic. Good luck to you, I'm sure it will get "old" to drink each meal soon but now I know I can do it. I wish you the best, hopefully we can keep each other motivated since I hear this is one of the hardest parts.

Faith

Every physician is so different. I am going in on Thursday for post op and will probably be doing so much better yet again. I am still on Clear liquids according to my physician and will not be on soft food until after Thursday. I can hear the rumble and I feel hungry, however, I just walk when I am hungry and then the gas passes.

It is really mind over matter these past few days. I know I can't eat so I don't.

How are you doing with the shoulder pain has it subsided at all?

Apparently, after a certain amount of time, you can't edit an old post. So I've decided to post it in a separate message.

My apologies to those who had posted their surgery date in the last couple of days. I've been off my computer, and I'm just getting back on today. So if your name isn't on here, and you'd like it to be (or it should be), just reply to this post, or you could send me a private message, and I'll get you right on.

Thanks for putting that list together. I'm pumped about this whole deal and I think I will be putting some great numbers up over the next few months. The pre-op liquid diet doesn't start for two more days and yet I woke up another pound down today. This is going to get nutty when I'm only running on Optifast for two weeks. I'm guessing it'll end up at least 20 lbs. off in the 27 days between consult and surgery.

I'm on my pre-op diet (two Protein shakes a day and one meal) and am feeling pretty good. I cheated a little the other night and had veggie Soup and three bites of lasagne for dinner and felt so gross the next morning. It's kind of amazing how quickly your body adjusts to the shakes.... I'm on a clear liquid only diet the day before surgery. That should be a fun day!

I met with my surgeon last week and I love him. I'm still really nervous, though. REALLY nervous! I like hearing everyone's stories - makes me feel a bit better.

Glad everyone's doing well!

Angela

My surgery was yesterday and I honestly had a really good experience the surgeon and staff at the slimband clinic were great. I was done at about 2pm and was back at my hotel room @ 5pm. I have no gas pain at all (touch wood). The pain from the surgery itself is very minimal and I only get them when I try to sit or stand. I slept really well only woke up once to take painkillers. So far so good, I pray that the rest of my journey is as easy as this. I have only had Water and a glass of apple juice since the surgery and I am noy hungry. In the airport right now on my way home to start a brand new life.

Wishing all of you yet to be banded all the best.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
