When will paperwork be sent for approval?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! My name is Lindsey and I'm new to the forums. I have been reading a lot over the last few weeks and finally decided to ask a question.

My question is when does the surgeon send out my info to my insurance for approva (BCBS of Mass)l? My guess is they have to have the sleep study back? My pre-op is scheduled for April 22 and surgery is April 28th.

My consult was March 1st.

Psych eval was March 15th

Nutrition was March 17th.

Sleep study was yesterday March 30th.

I'm so excited and happy I just have a feeling it's going to be a long month of waiting!

Keep up with your surgeon's office and your insurance company and make sure everything is going along according to plan. I had a problem with getting approved in a timely manner because things were missing or not being sent out on time. I actually got my approval letter AFTER my surgery (although I did call the insurance company to make sure I was covered first). It took over two months for my insurance company to approve me. Hopefully you'll have an easier time than I did!

My paperwork was sent out once they had 6 month diet history, nut evaluation surgeons evaluation and psych evaluation. I guess it really depends on the office though. I would give them a call and check!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
