10 days after surgery and having port bulging and painful?

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow banders,

I had my surgery on 3/14, and still having pain around the port and quite a bulge there as well. Is it normal 10 days after surgery, or should I worry?

Thank you!

I was still sore at 6 weeks out when I had my first fill!!

If it's hot to the touch, if you're running any kind of temperature, if the area is red, there might be a problem. Swelling could also possibly be a indication of something not quite right.

Best thing would be to call your bariatric surgeons office and talk to one of the nurses. They know you and your history better than we do. ::smile::

More than likely you're just taking a while to heal, but call to make sure.

Hope it resolves for you soon.

I was banded on 3/11 and I have some pain in the port area. Mine is not bad but I have heard that the port site is the place where the pain lingers a little longer. Most of my pain is if one of my students bump it just right or I turn weird. I would call your doctors office just to ask a nurse to be safe because the weekend is coming and if you have an infection and need an antiboitic better now than on the weekend. Is the area red or hot to the touch?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
